Praise for Leon Hale's Writing

(Hale’s) voice in writing is the voice of the man himself. Colloquial, wise, caring...and wrily and powerfully humorous. And instead of fading with the years, these qualities have been intensified and refined.

It’s hard to stop with just a few...

A SMIlE FROM KATIE HATTAN

Beloved Texas author Leon Hale takes us with him into a world where smiling seems to come naturally. Riding with him in these pages, we feel our stress and anxiety melting away. This is Texas of the heart and soul as lived by the people he encountered in the cafes, country stores and crossroads of the state over his long career. And they’re introduced to us by one of the state’s greatest storytellers.

With these new paperback and Ebook editions of his first collection, we re-discover the qualities that made Hale a popular columnist for The Houston Post, and later Houston Chronicle, for more than sixty years. His warmth and humor are timeless.
